Every year, SICOT offers one surgeon a three-month to one year fellowship to the CEOT (Center Specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology) at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Cascavel (Paranà, South Brazil).
The FAG University Medical School is one of the most respected colleges in Parana (Brazil). The University Hospital is the St. Luke's Hospital and Research Hospital. The Orthopaedic Surgery Department is commanded by CEOT (Specialized Center for Orthopedics and Traumatology), that is a respected clinic covering all Orthopaedics subspecialties. The Orthopaedics staff (18 surgeons) performs about 2500 elective/emergency surgeries per year in all fields of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, including Arthroplasty Division primary and revision, Arthroscopy and advanced procedures.
The main objective is to expose the fellow to the full spectrum of all subspecialties of Orthopaedics surgery, including electives and emergency surgeries. The cases include preoperative care, preoperative planning, operative techniques, postoperative care and classes with articles and theoretical cases. However, should the fellow wishes, we can organize the fellowship to cover one or more specific subspecialties. During the fellowship period, the awarded fellows will be given the opportunity to observe the clinical service and participate in research works in one of the following orthopaedic subspecialties: Foot and Ankle Surgery; Hand and Microvascular surgery; Knee surgery; Hip surgery; Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery; Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery; Spine Surgery; Elbow and shoulder surgery; Sports and Arthroscopic Surgery.
Accommodation will be covered by SICOT and CEOT up to EUR 1,000. And SICOT will cover the travel expenses up to EUR 1,500 (economy ticket only; taxis will only be reimbursed at a reasonable amount; airport shuttle bus service must be used in priority to taxis). CEOT will provide food (breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hospital canteen), airport pick-up and drop-off and help with medical expenses and medical consults the fellow might have during the length of the fellowship. In addition, CEOT will provide a salary of 250 USD.
Prerequisites:
Must be a SICOT member with membership dues paid two years in a row at the time of the application (the year of the application deadline and the year before)
Must be 45 years or under at the beginning of the fellowship
Must have three or more years of specialised orthopaedic training at the time of application
Health insurance coverage during stay at centre
Medical check-up before travel (including lab results for blood tests)

Priority is given to candidates having attended one or more SICOT Congress(es) in the past 4 years
Preference will be given to international fellows. SICOT will not cover the travelling costs of national fellows
